Obituary of Yvette Bulckaert

Yvette Bulckaert (nee Van Braeckel)

Born July 6, 1930, in St Alphonse, Manitoba.

Died January 21, 2024, in Ridgetown, Ontario.

Yvette passed away peacefully with family by her side. She is predeceased by her husband, George Bulckaert and her parents Yvonne Van Braeckel, nee Maes (of Belgium) and Leon Van Braeckel, (of Belgium) and brother Prudence “Athemar” Van Braeckel.

Survived by her children Leonard Bulckaert (Cheryl), Diane Payne (Bill Cormylo), Jeanne Brackett (David), Joseph Bulckaert, Judy Vandehogen (Scott Hines). Her brother Jean “Johnny” Van Braeckel (Lois) and sister-in-law Rose Van Braeckel.

Grandchildren: Jacqueline, Terri Lee, Jolene, Brady, Luke, Joel, Stephanie, Gregory, Morgan, Megan and 10 great grandchildren.

Yvette loved raising her family on the Highgate farm, playing cards with friends and grandchildren. You could always count on a piece of homemade bread or a butter tart or two with your coffee if you dropped by for a visit. She enjoyed dancing well into her senior years.

Yvette was a long-standing member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Women’s League of Ridgetown. She and her husband enjoyed many years at the Chatham and Bothwell Archery Club and were shareholders and members of the Canadian Belgium Dutch Club in Chatham.

A special thank you to the staff at Village on the Ridge in Ridgetown for their many years of care of our Mother.

Yvette’s laugh, smile and friendly nature will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family near and far.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated a St. Michael's Catholic Church, 26 George Street, Ridgetown at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Interment to follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
