Yip, Mary "Sou Mui"
A long-time resident of Chatham, Mary passed away at the Copper Terrace Long Term Care Home on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the age of 86.
Born in Taishan, Guang Dong, China, Mary completed her schooling in Hong Kong before emigrating to Canada and married her now late husband Johnny (1990) of 40 years.
Cherished Mother to Winston (Doris) Yip, Nelson (Sandra) Yip, Dr. Handson (Linda) Yip, Dr. Benson (Cheryl) Yip, and Nancy (Art) Giurici.
Proud Grandma to Quincy Yip (Bella), Angie Graham (Maarty); Carmen Yip, Christine Yip; Brian Yip, Aaron Yip; Maxine Yip, Mason Yip; Owen Giurici, and Camryn Giurici. Great-Grandma to Ruby, Ayla, Caine, Caleb, and Colby. Mary never passed down an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren.
Dear sister to Bruce (Lucy) John. Predeceased by her brothers Arthur John, Howard John; and her sister Lynn Szto. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Mary owned and operated "Lucky In" with her family for many years. She enjoyed travelling, gardening, going for walks, and spending time with her family.
A memorial visitation will take place at McKinlay Funeral Home, Chatham on Friday, October 14th at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Memorial Service will take place on October 15th at 11:00 am.
Donations made in memory of Mary to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
