Obituary of Julianne Brodie

BRODIE: Julianne 'Julie' Gail (nee Blackwell) -

It is with great sadness that the family of Julianne (Julie) Brodie announces her peaceful passing at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, with family by her side on Friday, July 15, 2022 at the age of 78.

Predeceased by her parents Norman and Lorna (Wood) Blackwell and her beloved John Kellett (1996).

Julie was a proud loving Mom to son Jeff and his wife Heather Brodie, and daughter Sherry and her husband Mike Hendrickson, all of Chatham.

Beloved Nana to grandchildren, Ashley Hendrickson (fiance Jordan Girard), Joshua Brodie, Erik Hendrickson (Sailor First Class, RCN) (Michelle Small) and great-grandchildren Mia Hendrickson and Carter Girard.

Predeceased by her brother Richard Blackwell of Uxbridge. Survived by sister-in-law Peggy Blackwell, nephew Boyd Blackwell and niece Tracy Caughell and husband David and their children Stuart and Kayla, all of Carp.

Julie worked at the Ontario Wheat Board in Chatham for almost 18 years before retiring in 2000. She spent many enjoyable hours at the Y pool, swimming and taking part in aquafit classes as well as teaching there once or twice a week. Julie spent many hours creating cross-stitching and quilting projects which she shared with family and friends. Julie also was a volunteer for the First Presbyterian Church Saturday morning breakfast program. Julie was skilled in archery, a hobby she shared with John and her grandchildren.

Julie enjoyed her time with her friends, solving the world's problems at her coffee groups. She enjoyed traveling in the warmer climates with her friends and family. Julie will be remembered for her independent spirit, sweet demeanour and her Christmas cookies.

Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 with Rev. Mike Maroney officiating. Cremation to follow with a private family interment to be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, First Presbyterian Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
