Doris Burke

Obituary of Doris Lillian Burke

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Doris Burke (nee Edwards), beloved wife of the late Harold Burke.

Loving mother of Michael (Ruthann) Burke, Janice (Dino) Mozzon, Randy (Kathy) Burke, and Christy (Brent) Haskell.

Predeceased by her daughter Shelley Burke, son Bradley Burke, sisters Shirley Miller, Helen Austen, and brother Garnet Edwards.

She will be deeply missed by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Doris and Harold farmed on Bay Line near Mitchell's Bay for many years on the Burke century farm. Even though Doris started out as a city girl, she could always be seen with a hoe nearby to render the fields clean. She enjoyed getting together with friends in Dover and at the Church, and most especially loved her family.

Doris relished helping people, and enjoyed her years spent as a Nurse’s Aid at Thamesview Lodge.

She participated in many square dances with her favorite partner, Harold. Doris was an accomplished painter, both room and easel, which can be attested to by her many children and grandchildren.

Our thoughts are forever with you Mom, and we hope you are enjoying a good game of cards. Family meant the world to her, and she to them.

Special thanks to the staff of 5th floor at Riverview for their exceptional care.

A Private Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 28th, 2020 at 2pm. Those who are unable to attend, due to present COVID-19 restrictions, may view the service at www.mckinlayfuneralhome.com. Cremation to follow, with interment in Owen Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris’ memory may be made, payable by cheque, to Owen Cemetery (for the purpose of Cemetery Maintenance) or Grace Christian Church, Dover Centre.
