Rayment, Laura Irene (nee Brown)

 

A resident of Chatham, Laura Irene Rayment peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in her 92nd year.

 

Laura was the daughter of the late Clarence Arthur (1988) & Mary Evalina (nee McErracher) (1953) Brown.

 

Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Short (1990) & the late J. Lloyd Rayment (2003).

 

Loving mother of the late James Short (2005) (the late Lynda (2009)), Kenneth Short (Carol) of Wahnapitae (Sudbury) & Craig Short (the late Barbara) of Wallaceburg.

 

Also survived by step-son Gary Rayment (Bonnie) of Chatham, step daughters Carol Pepper (Ross) of Calgary & Debbie Johnson (the late Laurie) of Crediton.

 

Beloved grandmother of 9 & great-grandmother of 12.

 

Survived by sisters Nora Sitler of Wardsville, Marjorie Wilkins of Bothwell & Lillian Ulch of Ilderton.

 

Predeceased by sisters Dorothy (1961), Edna (1993), Mildred "Jean" (2001), Vera (2002), and brothers Russell (1924), Harold (1989), Fredrick (1996), & Donald (2008).

 

Missed by many nieces, & nephews as well as many friends at the Active Lifestyle Centre & at her apartment complex on Baldoon.

 

Laura was an avid knitter, donating hundreds of pairs of mittens each year to the Goodfellows, the Salvation Army and the Women's Shelter. She was also a long standing member of the Active Lifestyle Centre and was a caller for square dances throughout the area for many years.

 

Friends to be received on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the McKinlay Reception Centre, 463 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 2:00 – 4:00 pm for a Celebration of Laura’s life. Cremation has taken place.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Active Lifestyle Centre or to a charity of your choice in memory of Laura.
