BLACKBURN: Dorothy Marie (nee Chinnick) -
A resident of Chatham, Dorothy Blackburn passed away at the Windsor Regional Hospital, Ouellette Campus, on Thursday June 7, 2018 at the age of 93.
Born in Chatham, Dorothy was the daughter of the late George and Leola (White) Chinnick.
Beloved wife of 54 years to the late Harry Blackburn (2003).
Devoted mother of Barbara Robbins (Arnold) of Chatham, the late Martha Skinns (2007), Janet Blackburn (Ron Drummond) of Tilbury, Doug Blackburn of Toronto and Mark Blackburn (Laurie) of Chatham. Mother-in-law to Peter Skinns of Australia.
Cherished grandmother of Kyle Robbins (Adina), Diane Robbins; Rebecca Blackburn, Natalie Blackburn, Isaac Blackburn, Chloe Blackburn; Nicole Byrd (Tim), Jason Blackburn (Amanda), Steve Blackburn (Tiffany) and Kara Jenner (Joel).
Adored GG to 10 great-grandchildren.
Sister to Jane Jenner (late Bob) and Delbert Chinnick (late Marg), both of Chatham.
Predeceased by her brother Bev Chinnick (2013). Sister-in-law to Irene Chinnick of Chatham.
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Dorothy had been a member of both French's United Church and Providence United Church, and was an active member of Victoria Avenue United Church. She was a lifetime member of the UCW and had been an Explorer Leader. She loved to quilt with various groups in the community, as well as bake, cross-stitch, garden and read.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm and on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 10:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Cremation has taken place, with a private family interment to be held at a later date.
Donations made in memory of Dorothy to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Windsor-Essex County ALS Society or Victoria Avenue United Church would be appreciated.
