COOPER: Ronald Alfred “Ron” – A resident of Chatham, Ron Cooper passed away suddenly at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with his family at his side on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the age of 88. Born in Chatham, Ron was the son of the late George Alfred and Thelma (Campbell) Cooper. Beloved husband of 60 years to the late Lillian Cooper (nee Chesney) (2008). Loving father of Kathi Gilbert (Robert Wilkinson) of Wasaga Beach, Carol and John Carrell of Texas, John Cooper of Chatham and Bob and Lori Cooper of Merlin. Predeceased by his son-in-law David Gilbert (2000). Proud grandfather of Lauren Carrell, Caitlyn Calvert (Luke), Gregory Gilbert, Laine Cooper and Briton Cooper and their mother Beth McLay. Dear brother to Bob and Ethel Cooper of Halifax, Donna and the late Howard Brehaut of London and Ruth and Bill Mann of Ancaster. Ron retired from Navistar after 30 years of service. He loved the outdoors, especially at his property in Kirkland Lake. Cremation has taken place, with a private family service to be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim at a later date. Donations made in memory of Ron to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer Society or the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters would be appreciated.
