Obituary of D. Harry Hansen

HANSEN: D. Harry – A resident of the Village on the Ridge in Ridgetown, Harry Hansen passed away after a courageous 30 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the age of 76. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Harry was the son of the late Henry “Harry” and Jean (Smith) Hansen. Beloved husband of 54 years to Barbara (nee Johnston). Loving father of Valerie Shaw (Hal) of Oakville and David Hansen (Cindy) of Ridgetown. Proud grandfather of Steven and Kelly Shaw and Ryan and Brady Hansen. Predeceased by his sisters Kay Tisdale (1981) and her late husband Greg, Dorothy Kearney (1988) and her late husband Max, Loraine Gilbert (2003) and her late husband Tom and Joyce Angerman (2010) and her late husband Manfred. Also missed by six nieces and one nephew and several great nieces and nephews. Harry was a member of the Ridgetown Curling Club the Masonic Howard Lodge #391 A.F. & A.M. and the Erie Street United Church. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Masonic Lodge Service will be held on Sunday at 7:00p.m. A Celebration of Harry’s life will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2013 Rev. Judith Fayter officiating. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown. Donations made in memory of Harry to the M.S. Society would be appreciated by the family.
