Kathleen Clement

Obituary of Kathleen Ann Clement

Clement, Kathleen (Kathy) Ann né Butler – much loved daughter to Ruth Butler and her late husband Ron (1972). Kathy was also the very proud mother of her precious Colleen, or “Beanie” as she liked to call her. Kathy was born in Niagara Falls on November 1, 1951 and for many years a resident of Chatham. Kathy was a highly competent and respected public servant of Her Majesty’s Government of Canada both in the Falls and in Chatham for 37 years in total until her retirement several years ago. She achieved many citations which she was too humble to share with others over the course of her life. Kathy was also an avid reader, golfer, shopper, traveller and entertainer. She also recently enjoyed serving Theatre Kent as a behind the scenes volunteer. Her warm smile was surpassed only by the lovely twinkle in her blue eyes as she filled her life with humour and a positive attitude. Her strength has always been an inspiration to her daughter and continues to be today. Kathy fought her ovarian cancer for 10 years, making her the longest survivor of ovarian cancer known to the University Hospital in London. She faced her disease with grace and courage. In honour of that, Colleen is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations to celebrate her mother’s life and assist the researchers whom she so respected, be made to Ovarian Cancer Canada. This can be done online at http://www.ovariancanada.org/Donate. Kathy’s final arrangements have been entrusted to the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham (519)351-2040. At Kathy’s request there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. Colleen invites Kathy’s family, friends and colleagues to a celebration of Kathy’s life followed by lunch at the Country View Golf Course on 40 highway between Chatham and Wallaceburg, this Sunday August 4, 2013 at 12 noon. Online condolences may be left at www.mckinlayfuneralhome.com McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham (519)351-2040
