EASTCOTT: Bertha May - A resident of Chatham, Bertha May Eastcott died peacefully at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Friday July 5, 2013. She was born in Chatham, 90 years ago on March 5, 1923, daughter of the late John & Mabel (Merritt) McClellan. Beloved wife of 62 years to the late Charles Eastcott (2002). Loving mother of Joan Thatcher of Chatham, Bonnie & Julien Lobbestael of Chatham, and Don Eastcott of Burlington. Predeceased by her son-in-law Jay Thatcher (1999). Cherished Grandmother of Jim & Shannon Thatcher of Calgary, Jeff & Diane Thatcher of Innisfil, Jan & Lisa Thatcher of Chatham, Jenni & Ryan Conlan of Lowell, Michigan, and Michelle Lobbestael of Chatham. Proud Great Grandmother of Dustin, Sarah, Corey, Amanda, Austin, Jordan, Logan, Riley, Jaydon, Brenan and Brady. Dear sister of Betty Cowan of Chatham, Alta Fisher of Sarnia, John & Marie McClellan of Chatham, and the late Ada Brown. (2006) Bertha and Charlie were part of the French’s Community and Cloverleaf Stadium for many years. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday July 10, 2013 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. with Bob McCall of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Family and friends are welcome to join the family for a luncheon at the McKinlay Reception Centre immediately after the service. Following the luncheon, everyone is invited out to Dresden Cemetery for the inurnment. Donations in memory of Bertha to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
