HOUSTON: Eleanor A. A resident of Chatham, Eleanor Houston died peacefully at Riverview Gardens on Thursday February 7, 2013. Born in Harwich Township, 93 years ago on April 2, 1919, she was the only child of the late William John & Nellie (Biggart) Sloan. Beloved wife of the late Andrew Houston (2011). Dear sister-in-law of Ruth & Ross Button of Charing Cross, Marjorie & Norm McMullen of Ancaster, Robert & Marilyn Houston of Chatham, and the late Margaret & William Sifton, John & Nessie Houston. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Eleanor loved her family, her friends, the St. Paul’s United Church community, and the staff of Riverview Gardens. She and Andrew enjoyed many years together. They loved music, enjoyed dancing, and were founding members of the Thames Horizon Shuffleboard Club. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Monday February 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Heather Scott and Rev. James Brown officiating. Cremation to follow, with interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery at a later date.
