Obituary of Evelyn Larkin

LARKIN: Evelyn. A resident of Chatham, Evelyn Larkin died peacefully at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Thursday November 8, 2012 at the age of 86. Beloved daughter of the late Arthur & Delia Tremblay. Loving mother of June Larkin & Barry Shainbaum of Toronto, Kathleen Larkin & Stephen Boak of London, and the late Nancy Larkin-Whaling (2003). Cherished grandmother of Trevor & Krista Whaling of Windsor. Dear sister of Ora Rivard of Tilbury, and the late Beatrice Carr, Eva Stewart, Wilfred, Leo, and Raymond Tremblay. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and fondly remembered by her dear friend Rose Panyi. Evelyn worked for a number of years for Loblaws and Zehrs Stores in Chatham, and was a long time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Her home was always open, you were always welcome, and thus she became a “Second Mom” to many over the years. Family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Caleb Village, and to some very treasured friends who took such great care of Evelyn in recent years. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m., with parish prayers at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday November 12, 2012 from St. Agnes Catholic Church, 52 Croydon Street, Chatham with Fr. Daniel Bombardier celebrant. Cremation to follow with inurnment at Maple Leaf Mausoleum at a later date. Donations in memory of Evelyn to the Outreach for Hunger or to CKHA for Palliative Care are welcomed.
