Obituary of Bernard Jones

JONES: Bernard Watson “Bernie”. A resident of Chatham, Bernard Jones died peacefully at his residence on Friday October 12, 2012. Born in Merlin 87 years ago on May 4, 1925, son of the late Loraine & Nina Jones. He is survived by his wife Jane (Fox) Jones, and his four wonderful children; Wendy & Wayne Scaman, Kim & Fred Vandersluis, Brian & Tracey Jones, Rod Jones & companion Tracey Butler. Proud Papa of eight grandchildren; Richelle & David Kent, Kristin & Jeff Murray, Colin Scaman, Megan Scaman, James & Lindsay Vandersluis, Elliot, Sarah, and Andrew Jones; and four precious great grandchildren; Lucas and Lauren Kent, Lucy Jane Vandersluis, and Quinn Murray. Predeceased by his only sister Donna Sanders. Bernie was a teacher and vice-principal in Kent County for 35 years. He was a member of the Chatham Goodfellows for over 50 years, having chaired the Porch Light Campaign. He volunteered countless hours over the years with the Kinsmen, the Kent County Treatment Centre, and after retirement spent much of his time driving for CHAPS. Bernie greatly enjoyed “coffee hour” every afternoon from 3 to 4 at McDonalds. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Tuesday October 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
