Obituary of Robert Joseph 'Bob' Martin

MARTIN: Robert Joseph “Bob” – Passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Four Counties Hospital, Newbury on August 12, 2012 at 7:35 a.m. at the age of 72. Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marion Martin (nee Winter) and daughters Denise Lutz and Kate Morency (Scott); his four grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Lutz and Cody and Brandon Morency. Bob was born and raised in Ridgetown, son of the late Robert Francis Martin (1970) and Leah (Hammond) Martin (1940). His mother passed away shortly after his birth and he was raised by his Aunt Veronica Johnston and her children became his brothers and sisters. Predeceased by Catherine Johnston, Colleen Smolders, Marg Sheeler, Dave Johnston, Betty Bassett and Robert Johnston. Survived by Father Martin “Sam” Johnston of Ridgetown and his brother Scott Martin of Texas and step-mother Betty Martin of Florida. Bob was also brother-in-law to Ruth Caron of Sarnia and Don Winter (Judy) of Bothwell. Bob was a life long member of St. Michael’s Church, Ridgetown, and Council 8435 Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree Knight. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street E., Ridgetown on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held on Tuesday at 7:00p.m. 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Prayers to follow at 7:30p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, 26 George Street, Ridgetown at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 with Fr. Martin Johnston celebrant. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown. Donations made in memory of Bob to the Canadian Cancer Society or the St. Michael’s Church Restoration Fund would be appreciated.
