Obituary of Caroline Elmire Laprise

LAPRISE: Caroline Elmire (nee Roy) – A resident of Pain Court, Caroline Laprise passed away at Riverview Gardens in Chatham, surrounded by her family on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the age of 93. Born in Dover Township, Caroline was the daughter of the late Adolphe and Delia (Caron) Roy. Former wife of the late Trefflé Laprise (1980). Loving mother to Gerard Laprise (Aline) of Pain Court, Roger Laprise (Rose Marie) of Chatham, Claude Laprise (Marie) of Wallaceburg, Florent Laprise (Bernadette) of Chatham, Caroline Laprise of Chatham, Guy Laprise (Penny) of Chatham, Jean-Marie Laprise (Lucille) of Pain Court and Colette Laprise (Mike Maynard) of Grande Pointe. Proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 32 great-grandchildren. Dear sister to Loretta Roy of Gatineau, Quebec, and Anne-Aline Barrette (Roger) of Ottawa. Predeceased by her brothers Raoul, Bernard, Edmond, Raymond-Vincent and her sisters Yvonne Lucier and Léontine Roy. Survived by her sisters-in-law Teresa Roy and Yvette Roy. Sister-in-Law of Carmel Laprise; Jeanne Haslip; Soeur Marie and the late Soeur Cécile and Anna Trahan Caroline was an active member of the Ladies of St. Anne’s for many years. She enjoyed 50 years with her family at Rondeau Park, which inspired her to write her book “Mon Héritage, Ma Culture, Mes Souvenirs” which was published when she was 80 years old. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Prayers will be held at 3:00p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculée Conception, 24156 Winderline Rd., Pain Court at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012 with Fr. Michael Michon and Fr. Eugene Roy concelebrating. In keeping with Caroline’s strong support for women, donations made in her memory to the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre would be appreciated.
