THOMSON: John "Angus". A resident of Ridgetown and formerly of Duart, Angus Thomson passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Sydenham Campus on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the age of 81. Born in Duart, son of the late William and Violet (Bloom) Thomson. Beloved husband of Eula (Carnegie) Thomson for 59 years. Dear father of Brenda March and her husband Roger of LaSalle, Stewart Thomson and his wife Judy of Port Stanley, and John Thomson and his wife Marina of Chatham. Grandfather of James (Dajana), Caitlin, Ian (Heather), Derek (Amy), Emily (Jason), Erin, and Nicolas (Brittany). Great-grandfather of Hailey, Alexis, Lacey, and Taja. Angus was a true community leader and served as an elder of the Duart Presbyterian Church, member of the Duart Hall Committee, and a trustee of the Duart School Board. He was a member of the Highgate Fair Board, Orford Farmers Co-Op, Four Counties Hospital Board, and the Board of Directors of Howard Mutual Insurance Company. He also served as a Reeve of Orford Township, and was a former Warden of Kent County. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Shaw officiating. Interment in Duart Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
