Obituary of Janice Elizabeth Turner

TURNER: Janice Elizabeth (nee Embury) - A lifetime resident of Blenheim, Janice Turner passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 60. Janice was the daughter of Glen LeRoy Embury and the late Merle Vera (Pardo) Embury. Beloved wife of 41 years to Gil Turner. Loving mother of Bill Turner (Andrea) of Troy and Suzanne Vaughan (Tim) of Merlin. Proud Nana of Kaylie Vaughan, Harley Vaughan and Reece Turner. Dear sister to Patsy Johnson (Garnet) of Blenheim. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Janice enjoyed travelling the world as well as camping at Camper’s Cove in Wheatley. She had worked at Union Gas for 41 years and was the President of the Union Gas Blue Flame Social Club for 7 years. She also acted as President of the Kent County Figure Skating Club for 15 years, and was a 15 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 185 in Blenheim. Janice had spent many hours recording and documenting information for the Blenheim Freedom Library; this would allow for a permanent digital record of our history. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012 with The Rev. David Fuller of Trinity Anglican Church officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Janice to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Blenheim Freedom Library and Museum would be appreciated.
