Obituary of Robert 'Bob' Murrell

MURRELL, Robert. Peacefully at home, Bob, beloved husband and best friend of Pamela (nee Mouritsen) lost his valiant battle on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the age of 67. Born in Chatham, Bob is the son of the late Robert Sr. and Margaret Murrell. Proud father of Leigh-Ann (Jeremy) Burke, Michael Murrell and Ryan (Courtney) Murrell. Loving grandpa to Chloe & Lexi Burke and Bailey, Lilly and Mikey Murrell. Dearest brother of Cathy (Dennis) Schulz. He will be lovingly remembered by father-in-law Wes (Norma) Mouritsen, sisters-in-law Sally (Norm) Dumouchelle and Wendy (Gary) Corriveau and brother-in-law Mike (Lucille) Mouritsen. Bob was a special uncle to Brad, Benji, Josh and Tara Brisco, Catherine Mouritsen and Nicole Dumouchelle and great-uncle to Benjamin and Taylor Brisco. Also survived by many cousins. Fondly remembered by Peg and Ken Stuart and Sue Stoffyn-Brisco. Bob is a well respected and successful businessman who worked his way up to management for Dominion Stores and A & P. He and Pam became owner/operators of Bob’s Food Basics, from which they retired in 2004. Since then, they have wintered in Fla., where they were embraced by the golfing community of Brookridge. They were Bob’s winter family and he will be so missed. In his younger years, Bob was an accomplished athlete, having participated in track and field, bowling, hockey and slo-pitch. For several years, he served on the executive of the Maple City Slo Pitch League. Golf has been his lifelong passion and he treasured the huge circle of friends he had, both on and off the course. Bob was a devoted fan of the Patriots, the Tigers and the Red Wings. A very special thank you to Monica from VHA, for her wonderful care and compassion to Bob. She was his angel of mercy throughout his final journey. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, April 2 ,2012 from 3:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Maroney officiating. Cremation to follow.
