Roffel, Jan (John). Our God and Creator took unto Himself our Loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather on Friday March 16, 2012 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus. John, a resident of Chatham was born in Odoorn, The Netherlands 80 years ago. Son of the late Jan & Siemkje (Roffel) Roffel. Beloved husband of Mabel (Koopman) Roffel. Dear father of Cindy & Andy VanDen Toorn, Rockford, Michigan; Jack & Betty Ann Roffel, Chatham; John & Evelyn Roffel, Strathroy and Maryanne & Rob Laman, Fenwick, On. Grandfather of 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Brother of Harry & Diane Roffel, Chatham; Attie & Miendert Koopman, St. Thomas, and Anne Koomans, Chatham. Brother-in-law of Gezina Koopman; Tom & Grace Koopman; Marchien & Harry Zuidema and Gezina & John Pennings. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Arentje Roffel. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Monday March 19, 2012 from 3:00–5:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted at the Free Reformed Church, Gregory Drive, Chatham on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Tim Bergsma officiating.
