Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Jackett

JACKETT: Dorothy Elizabeth. It is with heavy hearts that we say good-bye and announce the passing of Dorothy Jackett at Marian Villa, London. Dorothy passed peacefully on the day before her 97th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband, Archie (1985), and is the loving mother of Douglas (Nancy) of Guelph and Noralie of London. Her legacy is her four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Linda), Christopher (Sarah), Joseph (Rebecca), Leanne; and her 9 great grandchildren. Dorothy was the sister of the late Marjorie Mckenzie, and the late John R. (Jack) Mckenzie. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Mckenzie of Dover Centre. Dorothy was born into a farming family at Dover Centre and left the farm to become a teacher at a number of one-room schools in Kent County. After her marriage and once her children were in school, she made her way into the business world where she managed her own candy store (she always had a sweet tooth); and always having been good with numbers, she continued her teaching with H & R Block, The Tax Experts. She loved music, traveling, and a good game of cards at the Active Lifestyle Centre where she is a life time member. Dorothy was an active member for over 60 yrs at St. Andrews United Church in Chatham, where she is also a lifetime member of the United Church Women. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday February 3, 2012 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home with Rev.
