Obituary of Elsie Loreen Hamil

HAMIL: Elsie Loreen (Cofell). A longtime resident of Chatham, Elsie Hamil died peacefully at Copper Terrace on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at the age of 96. Born on February 28, 1915 in Raleigh Township, daughter of the late Nelson & Bertha (Stockwell) Cofell. Predeceased in 1999 by her husband Ervin Leroy Hamil. Dearly missed by her daughters Ruth Clackett of Dover Township, and Helen Massecar of St. Thomas. Predeceased by her sons-in-law William Clackett and Richard Massecar. Loving grandmother of Wayne & Dawn Clackett of Ilderton, Paul Clackett of Chatham Township, David & Cheryl Shaw of St. Thomas, and Carol & Brian Vanderhaeghe of Langton. Fondly remembered by her nine great grandchildren: Melissa, Crystal, Sarah, Brandon, Katelyne, Natasha, Shae-lynn, Ashley, and Bryce. Survived by her sister-in-law Madeline Batte of Amherstburg, brother-in-law Ross Hamil and wife Joyce of Windsor, and sister-in-law Pat Cofell of Thamesville. Predeceased by her brothers Harold, William, Chester, Orley, and Garnet Cofell, sisters Edith Pilon, Ruby Taylor, and Ina Parry. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Elsie was a longtime member of Park Street United Church, and truly enjoyed the past several years she spent as a resident of the Chatham Retirement Resort. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday January 30, 2012 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. Funeral Service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Gordon Reynolds officiating.
