Obituary of Beatrice Irene Liddle

LIDDLE, Beatrice Irene (Goodison), of Chatham, and formerly of Wallaceburg and Wheatley, Ontario, passed away on January 15, 2012 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus in her 89th year. She is the beloved wife of Gordon L. Liddle for over 66 years. Cherished mother of Stephen J. Liddle of Don Mills and Cathy and Al Wolfe of Sarnia, formerly of Kettle Point, Ontario. Sadly missed grandma of Caitlin, Cassidy and Will and great-grandma of Alivia and Avary. Bea is also survived by two sisters, Marion Francis (Mrs. Donald T. Brown) of Clawson, Michigan, Shirley (Mrs. Ernie Wilson) of Halifax, Nova Scotia and one sister-in-law, Marjorie (Mrs. Archie Goodison) of Leamington, Ontario. Mrs. Liddle was predeceased by her parents, Valaria May and Gordon S. Goodison, as well as three sisters and five brothers.

During World War 2, Bea was a member of the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service and was stationed at the Canadian Forces Base, Halifax, Nova Scotia (Stadacona). After Gord retired, he and Bea spent most winters in Texas and Florida, golfing, soaking up the sun and meeting lots of great folks from all over North America. Gord, Steve, Cathy, and Al would like to express their deep gratitude to David Huffman, M.D., as well as all the staff of the C.K.H.A for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Bea in her last months and days. Mrs. Liddle has requested no public visitation or memorial service.

Cremation has taken place, and her final arrangements and requests have been entrusted to her family and the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, Ontario. An interment of the cremated remains of Beatrice Liddle will take place at the Erie Cemetery, Wheatley at a later date. Donations to the C.K.H.A-Palliative Care would be appreciated by the family.
