Obituary of John Vernon Brodie

Brodie: John Vernon. A resident of Chatham, John Vernon Brodie passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the age of 82. Born July 21, 1929, Vern is the son of the late John and Alleta Brodie. Married July 1, 1949 Vern is the cherished husband of Rosemary (Kehoe) Brodie. Beloved father of Susan Brodie of Chatham, Scott and Julie Brodie of Chatham, and Alleta and Vince Schiller of Lakeshore. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Dylan Brodie, Deacon Brodie, Nick Schiller, and Jack Schiller, and his step-grandchildren Holly Renaud, Jay Renaud, and Matt Schiller. Dear brother of the late Norma Jean Sharp. Vern spent 27 years serving Chatham-Kent as a police officer. After retiring he continued with his trade as a much sought after brick mason. In his early years he spent time as a member of the Chatham Kiltie Band and in the later years was a member of the Chatham Concert Band. Vern’s love for music, history, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and his on-going thirst for knowledge will always be remembered. Above all else his love for his wife and his family will never be forgotten. Family to receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
