Obituary of 'Betsy' Beatrice Margaret Steele

~Betsy ~ Beatrice Margaret Steele of Chatham, arrived earlier than expected on Jan 6, 1960 and left us too early on Monday, Oct 17. A beloved Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Friend and Teacher passed away peacefully at the London Health Science Centre after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend Jim Steele, and beloved daughters Stephanie and Christi. She is the daughter of Margaret Curtis and the late William Barton. Predeceased by her step-father Armand Curtis, niece Shelby Presant, brother Bob Myers and sister Deanne McPhail, and grandparents Archie and Amy (Ma) Campbell. Survived by her Mother Margaret Curtis, Paul Albert, sisters Barb (Don) Phair, Vi Burlien, Julie (Rick) Chambers, and brother Glen (Donna) Barton, Father and Mother-in-law Don and Marg Steele, brother-in-laws Mike (Erin~Topper) Steele, Mark Steele, sister-in-law Deb (Greg) Presant. Missed by nieces and nephews, Chris, Bill, Colleen, Jim, Kari, Tug, Jason, Tasha, Angela, Dave, David, Matthew, Allison, Steve, Emily, Bastian, Glen, Lindsay, Alana, Justin, Kyle, Joel, and Hayley. Missed also by many great nieces and nephews and one great great niece. Many close friends will be missing our Betsy as well. Betsy was a dedicated teacher that taught in Chatham-Kent for 27 years. She was an Honours Graduate of the University of Western Ontario and the Ontario Teacher’s College. She had a life long wish to donate her body to science so that others could learn. Visitation is on Friday, October 21, 2-4, 7-9 at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A memorial service will be held at the Blenheim United Church, 49 George Street, 11:00 am Saturday, Oct 22, 2011.
