Obituary of Edward Melnyk

MELNYK, Edward; A resident of Chatham and formerly of Coatsworth, Edward “Ed” Melnyk passed away at his residence on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the age of 88. Cherished husband for 62 years to Gwen (Young) Melnyk. Loving father to the late Dale (1996) & Charlotte Melnyk of Chatham, and Wayne & Doreen Melnyk of Woodstock. Grandfather to Steven & Melissa Melnyk, Lisa & Loc Nguyen and great-grandfather to Alex, Nicholas, and Ava. Survived by his sister-in-law Lydia Melnyk of Leamington and brother-in-law Larry Young of Leamington. Predeceased by siblings Olga & Peter Mereszak, Mary & Fred Wahl, and Paul Melnyk. Edward immigrated to Canada in 1926 from Poland. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Mark Perry officiating. Cremation to follow.
