Obituary of Mary Jane Bechard

Bechard: Mary Jane (nee MacDonald), A resident of Chatham, Mary Jane Bechard passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the age of 59. Born in Chatham, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Connie (nee Watts) Dulong. Daughter in-law of Marie Bechard and the late Leonard. Loving wife of 41 years to Rick Bechard. Dear mother to Angela D. Bechard, and Ryan R. S. Bechard. Proud grandmother to Wesley M. Phinney and Grace J. Bechard. Dear sister to Constance “Sherry” Rayment and the late Jack, Daniel Dulong (Rosemarie), Catherine Laprise (Robert), Richard Dulong, Lee Dulong , Stuart MacDonald, Randy Dulong (Becky). Predeceased by her brother Fredrick Dulong. Sister-in-law to Patty Bechard (late Larry), Mike Bechard (Beverly), Tracy Bechard (Jerome Goodreau) Wayne Bechard. She will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister-in-law Brenda Caron. Mary Jane was an employee of Hawryluk & Associates where she had the most rewarding times in her career. She was a member of the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario, and Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Chatham-Kent Canoe Club. Mary Jane was most passionate about her commitment to the Chatham-Kent Raging Dragons-Dragon Boat Team. Even as she struggled with her own illness, her number one concern was “can I still paddle?” She never wanted to let her team down or give up the fight. Her spirit and her memory will live on in every stroke of a paddle that is in support of a cure for cancer. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Funeral Home. 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 52 Croydon St. Chatham at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Daniel Bombardier celebrant. Cremation to follow with interment at Mayhew-Mt.Pleasant Cemetery at a later date.
