Obituary of J. Walter Greenway

Greenway, J. Walter, a resident of Chatham. Walter Greenway passed away suddenly on July 5, 2011 in his 90th year. Born in Ridgetown, son of the late James Ezra and Margaret (Lawrie) Greenway. Walter worked as a lineman for Ontario Hydro in both Ridgetown and Chatham-Kent for 35 years. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy J. (McIntyre)(1992). Loving father of James & his wife Pat Greenway; Patricia J; Linda; Louvina & her husband Wayne Grieve and daughter-in-law, Charlene. Sadly missed by 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters-in-law Bea McIntyre; Ilene McPhee; and Elsie Greenway. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends at the First Presbyterian Church and Residence On The Thames. Predeceased by son, William Edward (Ted) Greenway and daughter-in-law Alice; and Walter’s siblings Clarence (Stella); Isabel Moore (Harvey); James; Earl and extended family (inlaws). The Greenway Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Friday July 8, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown. Donations in memory of Walter to the Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy Foundation; The ALS Society or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
