Obituary of Edith Maria Swan

SWAN: Edith Maria (nee Burk) – A former resident of Blenheim, Edith Swan passed away peacefully at Meadow Park Nursing Home in Chatham on Sunday, June 26, 2011 in her 97th year. Edith was born in the former Harwich Township on February 25, 1915. Edith was the daughter of the late Simeon and Ethel (Huffman) Burk. Beloved wife of the late Robert Swan (1989). Predeceased by siblings Alma (Herbert) Goodison, Jim (Mavis) Burk and Helen Louise (Babe) Burk. Survived by her nieces and nephews, Elaine (Jack) Shillington of Chatham, Bev (Pat) Goodison of Ridgetown, Keith (Jane) Burk of Erie Beach, Ken (Barb) Swan of Winnipeg and Chris Swan also of Winnipeg. Also survived by several great and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as one great-great-great nephew. Edith was a veteran, serving as a nurse for the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps from February 1944 until January of 1946. Cremation has taken place. At Edith’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will take place in the Burk Cemetery at a later date.
