Obituary of Alan Gordon Weed

WEED: Alan Gordon – Passed away peacefully on June 24, 2011 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus at the age of 90. Predeceased by his beloved wife Katherine (2009). Dear son of the late Jack and Lillian Weed. Predeceased by his brothers Les (Joan) and Norman and by his sister-in-law Christine Adkin. Survived by his brother-in-law Ray Adkin. Special uncle to Kathy and Allan Adkin. Also survived by his niece Sharon and his nephews Mike and Bob, as well as several grand-nieces and nephews in England. Alan was a special friend to Frank and Gwen Boulton (Georgia). Alan was born in Torquay, Devon, England and served in World War II in both France and Germany. Alan came to Canada in 1947, settled in Windsor, and married his wife Katherine (Stenton) in 1958. He worked in the plaster business initially, then at Chrysler and finally at General Motors until he retired in 1983. Alan’s lifelong interest was in race cars and at one time he raced bikes. A Memorial Service for Alan will be held in the Funeral Home on July 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Margaret Trapnell officiating.
