Obituary of Benjamin Charles Porquet

Porquet: Benjamin Charles, A resident of Chatham, Ben Porquet passed away at Riverview Gardens on June 23, 2011 at the age of 83. He was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia and was the son of the late Charles and Elise (nee Gerrard) Porquet. Loving husband of 62 years to Dorothy Porquet (nee Mead). Dear father to Elizabeth Porquet of Mississauga, Ellis and Angela Porquet of Chatham, Ellen and Gary Vyse of Wallaceburg. Proud grandfather to Christopher, Johnny, William, Jenn, Christine, Nicole (Frank) and Steven. Proud great-grandfather to 9 great-grandchildren. Dear brother to Regina McPhee of New Waterford, Denise Gillis of New Waterford, Carmen Roach of Brandon, Manitoba, Charles and Delores Porquet of Winnipeg, and Louis of Chatham, Henry and Jean Porquet of New Waterford. Ben will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Martha O’Sullivan and brothers in-law Hughie Gillis and Joe Roach. Ben was a retired employee of Rockwell where he worked for 33 years. He was a member of the Salvation Army Citadel in Chatham. Ben will forever be remembered by his family for his love of woodworking. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Capt. Andrew Watkinson officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Memorial donations to honour Ben’s life can be made to the Salvation Army and would be appreciated by the family.
