Obituary of Robert 'Bob' Whittington

WHITTINGTON: Robert George “Bob” – A resident of R.R. # 4 Blenheim, Bob Whittington passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the age of 82. Born in Chatham, Bob was the son of the late George and Gertrude (Cowley) Whittington. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Jean (Poole) Whittington (2007). Loving father to Lee Whittington (Grace) of Saskatoon, Scott Whittington (Martha) of Toronto, Heather Whittington (Tom Beal) of Cambridge and Leslie Ann Whittington-Carter (Scott) of Wallacetown. Proud grandfather of Jennifer, Gregory, Chris, Molly, Veronica, Breanne, Stephen and Robert. Predeceased by his sister Doreen Mowers. Also missed by several nieces and nephews. Bob farmed all his life at Whittington’s Corners where he raised beef cattle and grew numerous varieties of cash crops. Special thanks to the staff at the Continuing Care Unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for their care and professionalism. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Trinity Anglican Church, 59 Ellen Street, Blenheim on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with The Rev. David Fuller officiating. Inurnment to be held at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Donations made in memory of Bob to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Foundation of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance – Continuing Care Unit would be appreciated by the family.
