SMITH: Dora Jean “D.J.” (nee Findlay) – A longtime resident of Blenheim, D.J. Smith passed away, surrounded by her loving family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the age of 86. Born in Blenheim, D.J. was the daughter of the late Harry Clayton Findlay and Ruby Fay (Anderson) Findlay. Beloved wife of the late F/O William G. “Bill” Smith (1958). Loving mother of Karen Richards (Lee) of Lucan, Leslie Brown of Port Lambton, Randy Smith (Janet) of Blenheim, Brett Smith (Lynn) of Chatham and Sydney Lewis (Paul) of Barrie. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Kim Smith and her son-in-law Glen Brown. Very proud grandmother of Mike Brown (Lisa), Amy O’Sullivan (Mike), Corrie Allingham (John), Nathan Smith (Wendy), Jason Smith (Jen), Angela Moore (Shawn), Rob Smith (Erin), Pamela Richards (David), Jamie-Lynne Lewis (Josh) and Randie Lewis. Great-grandmother to 13 great-grandchildren. Dear sister to Marion Huffman of Blenheim and the late Edith Durfy. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Special thanks to Dr. Martha Clendenning, nurses Tammy and Lisa and the rest of the staff at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for their wonderful assistance to both D.J. and to the family. The Smith Family will receive friends and family at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim, on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Bill Terris officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Donations made in memory of D.J. to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Foundation of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance would be appreciated.
