Obituary of Norma DeKoning

DeKoning: Norma A resident St. Andrew’s and formerly of Mitchell’s Bay, Norma Eileen (Wicks) DeKoning passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Friday April 8, 2011 at the age of 90 years. Norma was born in Dawn Township, the only daughter of the late Lyle & Annie (McLachlin) Wicks, and much loved step-daughter of Verna (Kirby) Wicks. Beloved wife of the late William DeKoning (January 8, 1994). Dear mother of Anne & her husband Ford Keillor of Blenheim, and Bob & his wife Janice DeKoning of Wallaceburg. Cherished grandmother of Dan DeKoning (Shannon) and Rob DeKoning (Carey) of Wallaceburg, Leigh Fast (James) of St. Thomas, Dana Carroll (Aaron) of Port Stanley, Phillip Keillor of Thamesville, and Pete Keillor (Melissa) of London. Fondly remembered by 8 great grandchildren. Sister of the late Harold Wicks and Charles Wicks, she is survived by her sisters-in-law Jessie Wicks of Sarnia, Pat Wicks of Ottawa, and several nieces and nephews. Norma was a member of the Blue Bell Chapter #145 O.E.S., Sprucedale United Church U.C.W., The Heather Club of PGH, and a longtime member of the Chatham Granite Club. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday from 7:00-9:00 p.m.. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. with interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
