MELNICK, John Wesley- A resident of Kent Bridge John Melnick passed away suddenly at his residence on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the age of 65. Born and raised in Cobalt, Ontario, John is predeceased by both his parents, John and Agnes, and his brother Harry. John is survived by his wife Lynda, his son Cst. Derek Melnick, RCMP Langley, B.C., his wife Laura and his new granddaughter Autumn. John served with the O.P.P. in Chatham for 30 years and spent the last 15 years as a K-9 handler. John’s passions were German Shepherd dogs, fishing and playing hockey. He and his wife Lynda owned and operated Ravenscroft Kennel. Special thank you to Dr. McIntyre, Dr.Burke, and Dr. Blake for their help. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Donations in memory of John to Chatham-Kent OSPCA would be welcomed by the family.
