Obituary of Glenda Joy Freng

FRENG: Glenda Joy (Smyth) Beloved wife and best friend of Palmer Freng of Windsor, Ontario (formerly of Port Elgin), Glenda passed away suddenly in Zephryhills, Florida on Friday, March 25, 2011. Dearly loved daughter of Robert Cameron Smyth, born in Coleraine, N Ireland and Auralie Elizabeth Horne, born in Charing Cross, Ontario; sister of Sheila (Blair) Clark of Wasaga Beach, Carol (Gwyn) Beynon of London and Robert Cameron Smyth (Linda) Chatham. Sister-in-law of Rose Freng of Winnipeg and Hilda (Doug) Uyesugi of Leamington. Favourite aunt of Stephanie (Gerald) Bruch, Powder Springs, Georgia; Stacie (Jay) Nelles of Ottawa,, Jennifer Beynon-Martinec (Jakub) of Cervena Tremesna, Czech Republic, Jeffery (Sherry) Beynon of Ilderton; Lynn (Danny) Larocque of Sarnia; Cameron Smyth and Matthew Smyth of Chatham --- all of whom enjoyed being spoiled on their annual camping trips. Also six great nieces and two great nephews. Glenda loved life and lived every moment to its fullest. She retired as Vice Principal from Hillcrest Elementary Public School in Owen Sound, Ontario and her entire career was focused on children with emotional and special needs. She was a wonderful musician and gifted artist. She was a member of the Port Elgin United Church for many years and served as a volunteer on the organizing committee of PumpkinFest. She was an avid swimmer, cyclist and an exceptional cook. Family and friends were priority number one in her life. Although Glenda's life was cut short; as in life and through her death, we will remember her as having lived life to the fullest, with no regrets. She died as she lived: dancing to her very last breath, surrounded by the love of many of her best friends.Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Sunday April 3, 2011 from 2 to 4 pm and at Charing Cross United Church, Charing Cross on Monday from 10:00 until the Service time at 12 noon. Cremation to follow with Interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham at a later date. Donations in memory of Glenda to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Charing Cross United Church or the Saugeen Memorial Hospital, Southhampton.
