Smith; Margaret (Peg) Evelyn - A resident of Chatham and formerly Morpeth. Margaret (Peg) Smith died suddenly Sunday February 20, 2011 at the Copper Terrace Nursing Home, Chatham at the age of 85. Born in Morpeth, daughter of the late Earl Andrew & Ruth (Kimmerly) Winters. Beloved wife of the late Elgin Freaze Smith (1988). Dear mother of Treena & Bill Harvey, Chatham; Susan & Paul Galbraith, Ridgetown; Edna & Jim Brown, Ridgetown; Sharon Pritchard, Chatham; and Mark & Nancy Smith, Windsor. Predeceased by her son Douglas Bruce (1946). Grandmother of Adam & Lindsay Harvey; Andrew Harvey; Kevin & Kim Galbraith; Rebecca & Joel Horneman; Karen & Patrick Hutt; Jeff Brown; Kattie Holmes; Morgan Smith; Shannon Peacock and 5 Great grandchildren. Sister of Jim & Jan Winters, Rondeau Park; Dorothy & Murray Gladstone, Blenheim; Wray & Dora Winters, Morpeth; and the late Hilton Winters; Ralph Winters and. Marjorie McLaren. Margaret Smith & her husband Elgin owned and operated the M & E Shopping Center in Morpeth for over 15 years. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 76 Main St.,E., Ridgetown on Thursday February 24, 2011 from 12:00-1:30. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:30 with Rev. Al McIntyre officiating. Interment of Urn to follow at Morpeth Cemetery. Donations in memory of Margaret to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Morpeth Cemetery would be appreciated.
