Houston: Andrew Murray A resident of Chatham, Andrew Houston passed away at Riverview Gardens on Monday, January 17, 2011 with his wife and family by his side at the age of 86. Andrew was born in Chatham and was the son of the late Duncan and Mildred (nee McDonald) Houston. Loving husband of Eleanor Houston (nee Sloan). Dear brother to Ruth Button and her husband Ross of Charing Cross, Marjorie McMullen and her husband Norm of Ancaster, Robert Houston and his wife Marilyn of Chatham. Andrew will also be dearly missed by many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Margaret Sifton and her husband William, and his brother John Houston. Andrew farmed all his life before retiring with his wife Eleanor. He loved music and shared that love with everyone, especially with his fellow choir members at St. Paul’s United Church where he sang for over 70 years. He also loved to dance and play shuffle board. He and Eleanor were founding members of the Thames Horizon Shuffle Board Club. Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service to celebrate Andrew’s life will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. James E. Brown officiating. Cremation to follow with interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to honour Andrew’s life can be made to St. Paul’s United Church or the charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family.
