Obituary of Leonard Travis

TRAVIS: Leonard A lifelong resident of Chatham, Leonard Travis, a man known for his smile, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance-Chatham Campus, at the age of 81. Born in Chatham Township, Leonard was the son of the late William and Jeanette ‘Nettie’ (Lucas) Travis. Sadly missed by his beloved wife of 58 years Cynthia (Legge). Beloved father of Gary Travis of Chatham and the late Leonard Travis Jr. Dear brother of Ila Brown, Reta Travis and Lloyd Travis and his wife Dorothy. Fondly remembered by Daughter-in-law Angie, and grandchildren Jacob, Vincent, and Thomas. Predeceased by sisters Marjorie Mooney, Flora Robbins, Therman Travis, Howard Travis, Wilfred Travis and Kingsley Travis. Leonard will be missed by several nieces and nephews. Leonard was an employee of Ontario Hydro for 32 years, a member of First Baptist Church, Chatham, and an active choir member. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert Lambkin officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Memorial Donations to honour Leonard’s life can be made to the C.K.H.A.
