ROBINSON, John Wesley A resident of Chatham, John Robinson passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 84. Born in Chatham, to the late Charles & Ethel Robinson. Beloved husband of 58 years to Gwendolyn Robinson (nee Robbins). Cherished father to Bradley (Fran) Robinson, Drew (Carolyn) Robinson, Brent (Lisa) Robinson, Mitchell (Deb) Robinson, and Scott (Sabrina) Robinson. Forever missed by his grandchildren Devin, Cara, Ryan, Christopher, Jasmine, Paige, and Sapphire. Dear brother of Gloria (Earl) Powell, Bill (Emily) Robinson, Betty (John) Matthews, Dan Robinson, Imelda (Tom) Dungy, Bonnie (Albert) Tatum, Paul (Peggy) Robinson, and brother-in-law to Betty Robinson. Predeceased by his brother Charles Robinson, sister Gwen Robinson, and sister-in-law Noreen Robinson. Missed by many nieces and nephews. Godfather to Beth Robinson, Rosemary Aylesworth, and Sarah Tewkesbury. John was a member of the St. Clair Parkway Commission, St. John’s Lodge No. 9, past Grand Master of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Ontario & Jurisdiction. John was also a member of the United Supreme Council, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Prince Hall Affiliation, and an active member of the Union Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent & Treasurer. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Masonic Lodge Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at the Union Baptist Church on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of John Robinson to the Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society would be appreciated by the family.
