Obituary of Alice Nixon

NIXON: Alice Maud (Charvill) A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Windsor, Alice Nixon passed away peacefully at the age of 90, with her family by her side, on Sunday, August 8, 2010, at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Born in Ware, Hertfordshire, England, daughter of the late Joseph & Edith (Godfrey) Charvill. Beloved wife of 68 years to the late David Nixon (June 2010). Loving mother of Paul & Colleen Nixon of Chatham, Joanne & John Rozeluk of London, Carol & William Jamieson of Erieau, and David Jr. & Yoko Nixon of Leeds England. Proud grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 6. Predeceased by her twin sister Lillian Nash. Alice is survived by her brother in-law William Nash, her niece Marilyn Nash and nephew Mark Nash. Alice never truly left England at heart and she became a member of the English Girls Club in Windsor & Chatham after moving to Canada in 1947. She was an active member of Christ Church in Chatham where she served in the Women’s Guild. She was also a member of the Holy Trinity Ladies Group in Blenheim. Alice enjoyed knitting and sewing as she spent many years as a seamstress. She devoted much of her time to volunteering at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The family of Alice Nixon wish to extend a special thank you to all the nurses and staff of 4 West at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance for all their care and compassion. A family memorial service will be held at Christ Church at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Donations made in memory of Alice to The Foundation of the Chatham Kent Health Alliance or the O.S.P.C.A. are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
