Obituary of Carrie Blue

BLUE (Gray-Gillard)- Carrie Elizabeth. A resident of Blenheim and formerly of Highgate and Muirkirk, Carrie Blue passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the age of 96. Born in Palmyra, daughter of the late James and Lizzie (McPhail) Gray. Beloved wife of the late John E. Gillard (1979) and the late William A. Blue (1997). Dear mother of Betty Schaffer and her husband John of Dresden and step-mother of Barbara Tuxford and her husband Mike of Lucan. Grandmother of George and Sheila Schaffer of Blenheim, Mark and Brenda Schaffer of Kingsville, Faith Schaffer of King City, the late Shelley Schaffer (1976) and a step-granddaughter Jackie of Peterborough. Great-grandmother of Morgan, Avery, Bennet, Darian, Devon, Jeremiah, Avery, and Alyssa. Great-great grandmother of three great-great grandchildren. Sister of the late Helen and Tom Burchiel, Jean and Sinclair Kerr, Marguerite and Harry Scott, and Lyle and Ina Gray. Mrs. Blue was a devoted member of the former Duart Presbyterian Church and also taught Sunday School for 40 years. She taught Elementary School for 36 years and was a member of the Retired Women Teachers of Ontario. She was also a member of Mecca Chapter#58 Eastern Star, and the TruKiLo Class in Highgate. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. An Eastern Star Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wanda Burse and Sheila Schaffer officiating. Interment in Duart Cemetery. Donations to the W.J.
