Obituary of Joyce Cumming

CUMMING: Joyce Elaine (nee Stevens) – A resident of Chatham, Joyce Cumming passed away at the Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the age of 81. Daughter of the late Alf and Annie Stevens. Predeceased by her husband William ‘Bill’ Cumming (1996). Loving mom to Nancy (Brock) Sleightholm, Betty Jane (Allan) Beckett and Bill (Crystal) Cumming all of Chatham. Survived by six loving grandchildren; Tara and Kelly Beckett, Kyle Sleightholm, Bryce, Kier and Tessa Cumming. Sadly missed by sisters Betty (Clayt) Leach, Mary Jane (Ron) Hunter and one brother, Jack (Dona) Stevens as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one infant brother, and stepmother Nan Stevens. She loved the years she spent doing crafts with her “craft ladies” at the Senior Centre and later at the Centre for Older Adults. She was an active member of the St. Andrew’s United Church U.C.W. She was an avid sports fan and was often seen sitting in the stands or on the sidelines, cheering on her grandchildren in all their sporting endeavours (and dance recitals). Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Mark Perry officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Joyce to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
