Frances Korol

Obituary of Frances Korol

A golden heart peacefully stopped beating on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 with family at her side. Frances was predeceased by her husband, Michael in 1948. They had only been married for 10 years and she was left to raise their three children on her own. She is survived by her children Mike Korol (Nancy) Sarnia, Mary Dobias (Frank), Guelph, and John Korol (Jana), Chatham. Her much loved grandchildren Mark Dobias (Jennifer), Tamarie Dobias, Michael Korol (Penny), Shelly Taylor (Jeff), Julie Wright (Doug), Christine Davis (Grant), Audrey Korol (Jordan McLoughlin) and Ellen Korol. Also her beloved great-grandchildren, Brady, Michael, Skylea and Ben. Frances was born June 16th, 1916 in Slovakia. She was the daughter of the late Pavlina and Stefan Zahorsky. Frances was one of six children; Marie Trojan, and the late Blazej Zahorsky, Gusti Zahorsky, Margita Indra and Jozefka Pritoka. Frances emigrated to Canada in 1937 and after various moves settled in Blenheim, Ontario in 1945. Left on her own on a small farm on the outskirts of Blenheim with three little children to raise, Frances, with courage and great faith in God, accepted this challenge with dignity and determination. The sacrifices she made so that her children would be loved, safe, secure and receive a good education, helped shape their lives and they will forever be grateful. Frances will always be remembered for her beautiful quilts, her wonderful cooking and baking, and armfuls of love for her family. Her entire life was dedicated to her family, her friends and her church. She was a long time member of the C.W.L. at St. Mary’s Church and for many years enjoyed the company of her beloved quilting group. For the last five years she enjoyed her special group of friends at the Serenity Retirement Home in Blenheim and Chatham. A wonderful compassionate lady, with a tremendous sense of humour and love of life, she touched many people’s lives and will be greatly missed. This is a sad but beautiful time as Frances is now at rest and in everlasting peace in God’s love. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Martha Clendenning and the staff at Serenity Assisted Living in Chatham for their kind and loving care.
