CONGO, Mildred – A resident of Beattie Haven Retirement Residence, Wardsville, formerly of Highgate, Mildred Congo passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the age of 89. Born in Monitor, Alberta, daughter of the late Ada (Colliver) and William Jay. Beloved wife of the late James Congo (1989) and Wilfred Carey (1953). Dear mother of Kathleen & Wayne Eberle of Highgate, the late Evelyn Carey (1955), William Carey (1948), Wilfred Carey Jr.(1974) and stepson Donald and Katie Congo of Highgate. Cherished grandmother of Bill Eberle, Lisa Eberle and partner Dan Androsiuk, Karen & Jeremy Farmer, and Allan & Griselda Congo. Proud great grandmother of Austin Farmer. Sister of Doris Smith of Highgate and Charlie & Thelma Jay of Ridgetown. Predeceased by her sister Gladys (George) Bailey, brothers Stanley (Sheila) Jay, Clarence (Louise) Jay and brother-in-law Charles Smith . Mildred was a Charter Member of the Palmyra Women’s Institute, a former member of Duart Presbyterian Church and Highgate & District Agricultural Society. Family will receive friends at McKinlay Funeral Home 76 Main St East, Ridgetown on Sunday May 23, 2010 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 -9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Don MacMillan officiating. Interment at Duart Cemetery. Donations to The Alzheimer’s Society or Canadian Cancer Society can be left at the Funeral Home and would be appreciated by family.
