Obituary of Herb King

King: Floyd Herbert “Herb”, A resident of Tilbury and formerly of Leamington, Herb King died at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance- Chatham Campus on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the age of 76. Born in Leamington on January 1, 1933 to Herbert and Iva (Brown) King. Loving husband of Lillian (Glanville). Dear father to Linda Dulong of Chatham, Keith and Annie King of Burlington, Bruce and Rosa King of Hamilton, David and Jane King of Campbellville. Predeceased by his son Richard (1963). Proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Survived by his sisters Shirley Riley of Leamington; Linda Lavender and her husband Ken also of Leamington, his brothers Wayne and Diana King of Wheatley; Ken and Joanne King of Chatham; Bruce and Marion King also of Leamington. Herb served his country with the Canadian Navy for 20 years. Following his military service he worked at the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre as a Guard, retiring as a Senior Superintendant. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home – 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. until the service to celebrate Herb’s life at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Lillian Patey officiating. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations to honour Herb’s life can be made either to the Legion Poppy Fund or the Canadian Diabetes Association and would be appreciated by the family.
