Obituary of M. Ruth Stirling

Stirling, Margaret Ruth, A resident of R.R. #2, Highgate. M. Ruth Stirling passed away on Saturday December 12, 2009 at the Village Retirement Residence, Ridgetown at the age of 90. Born in Orford Township daughter of the late Gordon & Sarah Ellen (Clark) Manning. Beloved wife of the late Telfor Ivan Stirling (2001). Dear mother of Carolyn & Marcel Gentes, R.R. #2, Highgate and the late Lenard Stirling (1971). Grandmother of Scott Stirling, Chatham; Traci Turner, London; Ann & Dave Gelderland, Red Lake, Ontario and Michelle & Kelly Everaert, Vancouver, B.C. Great grandmother of Jessica, Kyle & Justin Gelderland and Steven Turner. Sister of Arthur & Alice Manning and the late Verna Todd & Frank Manning. Sister-in-law of Evelyn Ellis, Chatham. Also survived by daughter-in-law Judy Haskell & husband Murray of Chatham, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stirling was a clerk in the Highgate Post Office and farmed all her married life. She was actively involved in the U.C.W. and the Highgate Fair Board for many years. Ruth was a newspaper correspondent for over 40 years. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street, East, Ridgetown on Tuesday December 15, 2009 from 2:00-4:30 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Mary Elford of Turin United Church officiating. Interment Gosnell Cemetery, Orford Township Donations in memory of Ruth to the Turin United Church or the Village Therapeutic Garden would be appreciated.
