Obituary of Gerald Morley Jones

Jones: Gerald Morley. A resident of Chatham, Gerald Jones passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance- Chatham Campus on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the age of 85. Born in Tilbury E. Twp., son of the late H.O. “Bud” Jones and Jane (Cofell) Jones. Loving husband and best friend of 63 years to Jean (Gilbert) Jones. Dear father to Ron and Brenda Jones, Neil and Wanda Jones, Nancy and Bruce Reissner, all of Chatham. Proud grandfather to Morgan, Angela, Ian, Ryan and great-grandfather to Noah, J.J., Wesley, Colin and Peyton. Predeceased by his brother Max Jones and his sister Maxine Wilson. Gerald was veteran of the Second World War, serving with the R.C.A.F. which was attached to the R.A.F. in England. He was a mid-upper gunner flying with a Lancaster bomber. Following his service with the armed forces he worked for International Harvester before his retirement in 1978. Gerald was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Chatham. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home- 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Mike Maroney officiating. Interment to follow at Merlin Cemetery. Memorial donations to honour Gerald’s life can be made to the First Presbyterian Church-Chatham or the Alzheimer’s Society and would be appreciated by the family.
