Obituary of Gordon Brooks

BROOKS: Gordon James - A resident of Chatham, Gordon Brooks passed away at Riverview Gardens on November 24, 2009 at the age of 89. Born in Chatham, son of the late George and Myrtle (Tiffin) Brooks. Beloved husband of the late Ella Margaret (Pickering) Brooks (2008). Loving father of Linda Paolucci and her late husband Pat of London, Shirley McColl and her husband Neil of Rodney, and the late Joanne Moore. Proud grandfather to Shannon, Wendy, Kelly, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Julie, Jared, Jordan, Steven, Cheryl, and Michael, along with his 8 great grandchildren. Survived by his brothers Earl Brooks of Kitchener, Trevor Brooks and his wife Betty of London and his sister Shirley Kennedy of Ridgetown and sister-in-law Lyda Brooks. Predeceased by his brothers Norman, Jack and his wife Wanda, Stuart and his wife Muriel, Edward, Robert and his wife Irma, and Maurice; sister Rita Cook and her husband Wendell; sister-in-law June Brooks and brother-in-law Gordon Kennedy. Gordon was a retired manager of Maedel Beverages in Chatham, retiring in 1984 with over 40 years of service to the company. One of his favourite pastimes was old time square dancing. He was a former member of Park Street United Church. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home-459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Meg Runhart officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Memorial donations to honour Gordon’s life can be made to Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family.
