Sparks, Doris O. (nee Ryan) – A resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance- Chatham Campus on Friday April 4, 2008 in her 91st year. Born in Chatham daughter of the late J. Otto Ryan & Catherine Smyth. Loving wife of 63 yrs to the late Clayton Sparks (2002). Step-mother of the late Tom Sparks (2007) and his companion Ann Lammers. Mother of Larry & wife Carole Sparks, Brian & wife Nancy Sparks, Janice & husband Don Buckingham. Much loved grandmother of Clayton (Patty) Sparks, Melody (Tom) Anderson, April Doherty and friend Charlie Andolsek, Linda O’Phee and friend Bruce Clark, Kevin (Kara) Sparks, Bill (LeeAnn) Sparks, Todd (Karen) Sparks, James (Michelle) Sparks, Steve (Denyse) Sparks, Scott (Kim) Sparks, Shelley (Lloyd) Phillipps, Jennifer (Tony) Buckingham-Vanderlei. Great grandmother of 24 great grandchildren and 3 great - great grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Predeceased by her brother Jack Ryan and sister in law Muriel, daughter in law Jean Sparks and her grandson Mark Doherty. Doris and Clayton were founding members of Sprucedale United Church in Chatham where she was also a life member of United Church Women (UCW). Doris’ greatest achievement was the grooming of her family. Doris’ cherished her church friends who played a very important part in her life. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home – 459 St. Clair St. Chatham (519-351-2040) on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday-April 8. 2008 at Sprucedale United Church 493 Victoria Ave. from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Sprucedale United Church Memorial Fund or charity of choice would be appreciated.
