Thatcher: Joan Alfaretta
Peacefully surrounded by her family, Joan (née Eastcott) passed away on November 21, 2023 at the age of 82.
Born in Chatham, ON on April 23, 1941. Joan was predeceased by her parents Charlie and Bertha (née McClellan) Eastcott and her beloved husband Donald James "Jay" Thatcher. She was the dear sister of Don (Phyllis) Eastcott and the late Bonnie Lobbestael. She was predeceased by brother-in-laws Bill, Bob, Allan, and Julian and sister-in-law Lillian. Joan will be fondly remembered by her Thatcher sister-in-laws Gladys and Barb.
Joan was truly blessed by her family. She was the mother of Jim (Shannon) of Calgary, Jeffrey (Diane) of Innisfil, Jan of Parkhill and Jenni (Ryan) Conlan of Lowell MI. She was the devoted Grandmother to Dustin (Avery), Corey of Calgary, Sarah (Ryan) Knight of Barrie, Amanda (Michael) Zammit of Huntsville, Jordan (Nakita) of Woodstock, Austin (Renée) of Ridgeway, Logan, Jaydon (Nicolas) of Wallaceburg, Riley, Brenan and Brady Conlan of Lowell MI. She adored her great grandchildren Elijah and Peyton Knight, Lucas Emerson, Aubree Thatcher and Theodore Zammit.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 23 at McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park St. Blenheim ON. The funeral will take place Friday, November 24 at 11 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Joan is remembered for her devotion to family, church, teaching, nature, art, music and friends. Joan's family sincerely appreciates the loving care that Joan received at Eden Villa. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Joan may do so with a donation to the Salvation Army, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society.
